From September 2016 we have appointed a Student Mentor, Georgina Chandler, to work with our students to support them in and out of lessons. We believe that she is the person best qualified to understand and really know how our students think and feel is an individual they can relate to and one who has shared many of the same issues and concerns. Georgina, a student with us up to July 2016, is able to fulfill this role and has really made a big impact around the school.
One of the first tasks she has engaged with is to initiate a 'Student Views' forum, talking with students and getting their views on what can be done to improve aspects of the school. This will be a big part of her role and already the first big suggestion from the students has been put in place. It may surprise many of you but our students wanted a homework diary to record the work they need to complete at home. We are extremely delighted that our students are showing real commitment to their studies.
Students are meeting with Georgina weekly and I cant wait for the next big suggestion!
