PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education) is an important and integral part of the programme of support which the Rubicon Centre gives to all our students. PSHE makes a major contribution to the health and achievement of young people. It contributes to the welfare and safety of our students and underpins their future employability through the personal and social skills which commerce and industry demand from the workforce. PSHE not only helps to increase young people’s independence and ultimately enables them to take responsibility for themselves; it also prepares them for their future life as parents, employees and leaders.

We cover a wide variety of topics in the PSHE programme:

  • Equality
  • Friendship and healthy relationships
  • Risk taking behaviours
  • Prejudice and discrimination
  • SRE (sex and relationships education)
  • Drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Bereavement
  • Stress management
  • E-safety
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Personal Finance
  • Getting on with parents
  • Body image
  • Global Citizenship
  • Careers and preparation for working life
